The UK's leading fibre-optic broadband provider has suffered a series of technical hitches, it has been revealed.

Some of Virgin Media's customers have reportedly been hit by outages and loss of connection today (September 30th), while the company's website has also been experiencing loading problems.

In addition, the company's webmail platform has also been struggling with some technical issues.

Discussing the problems, a Virgin Media spokesperson said: "Some of our customers are currently experiencing intermittent service problems caused by power fluctuations at one of our facilities.

"Our engineers are working hard to bring services back on line as quickly as possible."

Virgin Media recently confirmed that it is to be listed on the London Stock Exchange from tomorrow (October 1st).

The company will be on the list, under the symbol of VMED, from 08:00 BST.
