Home and business broadband provider Fast.co.uk has acquired rival firm Firenet, it has been announced.
The company has announced that the takeover of the Northern Ireland-based business, which is an established provider of broadband, dialup and hosting services, is a sign of its growth plans.
No financial details have yet been released about the deal, but Fast.co.uk's Mark Baker has claimed the firm was proud to "invest a substantial amount" into the UK.
"We have an excellent line-up of new products and services that we will be launching over the next few months, geared to adding even greater value for both our existing and new customers," he explained.
He added that the acquisition will keep the company at the "forefront of the industry".
At the start of this year, Fast.co.uk launched its own dedicated server brand, known as Dedi.co.uk.
In addition, the company also opened its beta test of up to 24Mb ADSL2+ services to its customers.
