BT has released pricing details for its new Infinity fibre-optic broadband service.

The company is offering access to the service, which will give subscribers the chance to enjoy download speeds of up to 40Mb, through two pricing options.

Featuring a 20GB download allowance, basic security, a digital vault, 250 Wi-Fi minutes and upload speeds of up to 2Mb, Option 1 is available on an 18-month contract for £19.99 with a £50 connection charge.

Subscribers can also consider Option 2, which features unlimited downloads, advanced security, unlimited Wi-Fi minutes and a digital vault with auto back-up options, as well as upload speeds of up to 10Mb.

The latter package is available on an 18-month contract at £24.99 a month.

Discussing the deals, BT Retail's Chief Executive Officer Gavin Patterson said the new package "gives customers the capacity and reliability they need in an instant and at a great value price they can afford".

Earlier this year, BT commenced its £1.5 billion programme to upgrade a number of telephone exchanges to fibre-optic technology.
