Plans to deliver super-fast broadband across the UK will offer companies many benefits, an expert has claimed.
Paul Lawton, Managing Director of TalkTalk's business division Opal, has claimed that firms should not be disregarded in the government's broadband plans, which he described as an "important moment".
He explained that small home-based businesses could particularly benefit, as the launch of super-fast web services will allow them access to applications they may not previously used.
"We would urge the government to consider specific guidelines for business as they rely on super-fast broadband to carry out effective and efficient business processes and remain competitive, more important than ever coming out of a recession," he added.
Gordon Brown detailed in a speech earlier this week that the government hopes to offer super-fast broadband services to all homes and businesses by 2020.
Speeds of up to 100Mb could be available through the proposals, he added.
