O2 has the best customer service record in the broadband industry, a new poll has revealed.

The research by saw the company take the top spot for the second consecutive year, with 92 per cent of its customers claiming to be satisfied with its service.

Overall satisfaction among providers rose from 77 per cent to 79 per cent, it also revealed, although there was some bad news elsewhere.

Orange came bottom in the survey, with just 44 per cent of the firm's customers claiming to be happy. In addition, the gap between the best and worst providers has increased to 35 per cent.

Matthew Wheeler, Communications Expert at, said the results were "not rocket science".

He added: "The continued success of O2 shows that an excellent service does not have to cost the earth. Its broadband service is one of the cheapest on the market but its customer service is head and shoulders above its rivals."
