UK internet service provider (ISP) SmithMedia has introduced a new BT-based unlimited broadband deal, it has been reported.

According to ISPreview, the firm will offer the package at £44.99 per month to consumers unable to use its local loop unbundling (LLU) service.

Speeds of up to 24Mb will be available to SmithMedia subscribers over the BT network.

SmithMedia Director Clive Smith said the new broadband package is designed to offer "the same benefits" to consumers and businesses unable to access LLU services.

He added: "Although the monthly cost of £44.99 is a little higher than our LLU-based service, we hope customers will take advantage of the totally unmetered service and unrestricted P2P, without the additional usage charges they have seen in the past from other providers."

Earlier this month, Mr Smith told the news provider that SmithMedia's 24/7 support department had moved online, providing the firm with "a huge advantage over other ISPs".
