Subscribers to BT's range of broadband and TV deals could soon have access to online games as part of their package.
The broadband provider has entered into a partnership with OnLive, a US company which operates a service that allows web users to purchase and play games via streaming.
Designed to work through a TV, PC or Mac, the service is expected to launch in the summer and BT will then announce details about its introduction in the UK later this year.
Gavin Patterson, Chief Executive Officer of BT Retail, said the service would complement its current BT Vision packages.
"It's great for our customers – they'll have access to a huge catalogue of games, available instantly on their TV or PC without expensive hardware," he explained.
"And it's great for BT - it will enhance our premium broadband position and we'll be entering into a market that's worth more than £2 billion."
BT recently confirmed plans to expand its rollout of super-fast broadband networks across the UK.
