Dell's new five-inch tablet, the Streak, is set to get an exclusive UK launch on the O2 network and the firm hopes it will take the broadband world by storm.

The new device, which is expected to become a steadfast rival of Apple's iPad, uses Google's Android mobile operating system.

It will be made available in the UK on June 4th - with a US release following later in summer.

The new portable computer will incorporate Wi-Fi broadband internet and 3G connectivity, allowing people to download high-definition video content, and comes with up to 32Gb of expandable storage space for such content.

Unlike the iPad, the new device incorporates mobile phone capabilities and Flash technology. The Streak also sports 2Gb of internal memory, a 5MP autofocus digital camera, a 1Ghz processor and a huge amount of bundled office software.

Apple's iPad gets its official UK launch tomorrow (May 28th), with the firm's high-street shops opening early to allow them to deal with consumer demand.
