Occam Networks and NYnet have been recognised for their deployment of next generation broadband technology at Scarborough Business Park.

The companies were jointly presented the award for Open Access Business Service at the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards - major recognition for their networking innovation.

Through the project, businesses operating at the site have gained access to 100Mb broadband.

Russ Sharer, Marketing Vice-President of Occam Networks, commented: "We are thrilled to have been recognised for playing an integral role in one of the most innovative open access networks in the world.

"We also congratulate NYnet, who have ensured that the highest standards of broadband capability continue to be achieved at Scarborough Business Park."

Earlier this week, North Yorkshire County Council reported that NYnet's public sector next-generation broadband rollout had been completed on time and within budget.
