Web users in the UK can enjoy 10Mb broadband for £5 a month thanks to a new offer from Virgin Media.

The broadband provider has revealed that its new online-only offer is allowing new subscribers to take up the service at the special price for the first three-month period.

According to the firm, the deal, which includes unlimited downloads, weekend calls to UK landlines, free internet security and a wireless router, equates to savings of over £22 for broadband subscribers.

After the initial period, the service reverts back to its original price of £12.50 a month, as well as a Virgin phone line for £11.99 a month.

Details of the new deal have come after Virgin Media announced it has teamed up with model Abbey Clancy to launch a range of on-demand TV content for women wanting to escape from the upcoming World Cup action.

Shows including The Hills, ER and Gossip Girl are set to be available through the service.
