Businesses in Dorset are demanding faster broadband access by next year at the latest.
The local Business Digital Taskforce survey from the Dorset Chamber Council reveals that 64 per cent of companies need a connection offering 10Mb downloads.
Some 86 per cent said they wanted the necessary technology to be put in place within the next 12 months, reports the Dorset Echo.
However, with the government recently pushing back its timescale for introducing nationwide 2Mb broadband, many company bosses could be left disappointed unless private sector investment is forthcoming.
Dr Monica Seeley, Head of the Dorset Business Digital Taskforce, said enhanced broadband is "vital" for nearly every business which needs to transfer information electronically.
"If we cannot deliver affordable fast broadband, Dorset risks losing employers and micro-businesses," she claimed.
