TalkTalk could offer free access to the Project Canvas TV service as part of its broadband deals.

The internet service provider's Senior Director for TV Max Alexander suggested at the Marketforce and the Institute of Economic Affairs annual Future of Broadcasting Conference that YouView may be offered with its other services next year.

According to the Daily Telegraph, set-top boxes which will be compatible with the web-connected service are set to retail for £200.

However, TalkTalk is keen on offering them as part of a mobile phone-style pricing strategy which allows consumers to access the devices for free.

Mr Alexander told the event: "There will be different prices for software and hardware."

TalkTalk recently confirmed that it has renamed its Pro broadband and home phone package.

Now known as TalkTalk Plus, the deal includes 24Mb broadband, an unlimited download allowance, a wireless router and anytime calls to landlines across the UK.
