Consumers with subscriptions to Virgin Media's broadband TV deals will be able to watch top films in high definition (HD) from later this month.

The broadband provider is set to introduce a HD version of the Film4 channel onto its broadcast platform from July 20th, reports Digital Spy.

Set to be available at position 429 on the Virgin Media electronic programme guide, the channel will include a range of top British films alongside classic Hollywood blockbusters and independent movies from the US.

Details of the new channel were originally released in March, when Virgin Media's Executive Director of Digital Entertainment Cindy Rose said Channel 4 has "a great track record" in creating quality content.

She added: "We're delighted to bring some of their very best films and most popular programmes to our customers in stunning HD."

Virgin Media recently confirmed it has added Five HD, which is simulcast with the original channel, to its TV deals.
