Internet service provider (ISP) Ethnet has announced plans to launch a range of new satellite broadband deals, it has been reported.

According to ISPreview.co.uk, the firm will launch 12 broadband packages in January 2011, offering download speeds of up to 8Mb.

Consumers living in remote rural areas away from the UK's high-speed broadband network can access the satellite broadband from £35 per month, with discounts available for the first six months.

Ethnet's Home Starter package, priced at £25 for six months before rising to £35, offers 1Mb downloads and a 2GB usage allowance.

Download speeds of up to 2Mb are available with the Home Standard deal, which costs £39 rising to £55 after six months, while the 6GB Home+ package is priced at £48/£59.

Ethnet currently provides satellite support to home users, businesses and schools, as well as to broadcasters and on-location events such as the Tour de France.
