Leading broadband provider TalkTalk says four in every five UK households is equipped to take advantage of its Essentials broadband deal.

Only the remotest of communities are now outside the internet service provider's (ISP) reach, the firm suggested in a Metro advertisement.

Referring to its home phone and 24Mb broadband package, TalkTalk explained that "80 per cent of households can get this great deal".

The ISP noted that access to the headline speed depends on line and location, but unlimited evening and weekend calls are available to all subscribers.

Each Essentials customer also receives a free wireless router, in a package which allows customers to save £154 over the course of an 18-month contract, TalkTalk said.

The firm is urging consumers currently signed up to another broadband provider to "switch and save now".
