A number of small UK internet service providers (ISPs) have been named among Britain's fastest-growing technology firms.

The Deloitte Technology Fast 50, which recognises enterprises with the highest annual growth rates, featured a number of ISPs and networking companies.

In at number 17 on the list was Gyron Internet, which recorded a phenomenal 1,476 per cent expansion rate over the last five years.

Node4 Ltd, which grew by 1,142 per cent, took 22nd spot in the chart, followed by Heart Internet in 26th with 1,030 per cent growth.

C4l (823 per cent) moved into 39th spot in the rankings, ahead of M247, which has expanded by 745 per cent since 2005.

David Halstead, Partner leading the Deloitte Technology Fast 50, commented: "In spite of the challenging financial market conditions, the 2010 Deloitte Fast 50 shows that tremendous growth rates are still possible, with the mobile technology and software sectors showing particular strength.

"The Technology Fast 50 awards are an opportunity for businesses to gain recognition for their successes and achievements over the previous 12 months."

Taking first place in the chart was mobile technology provider the Mobile Interactive Group, which blew away the competition with 26,885 per cent growth.
