UK consumers are increasingly embracing web-enabled mobile gadgets to access broadband on the move, a new study has indicated.
Research conducted by internet service provider 3 has indicated that 60 per cent of consumers already own such a device, and 31 per cent are planning further investments in the run-up to Christmas.
Some 48 per cent of survey respondents said they use mobile devices such as iPad tablets to access the internet in their bedroom, 29 per cent do so at work, 14 per cent while in the bathroom and five per cent in the gym.
Matthew Halfin, Marketing Manager for 3 Mobile Broadband, said people are now using the mobile internet as part of their everyday lifestyle.
"We think it's important that we're able to support our customers by providing them with reliable and fast connectivity for wherever they want to go online," he stated.
"[Our] 3G network was designed for the mobile internet, so we can give people the very best online experience with their mobile gadgets."
Mr Halfin claimed this will be "particularly important over the Christmas period" as a third of people head online with their new mobile toys.
