Leading internet service provider Virgin Media has announced details of its new HD/3D set-top box, which will boost the appeal of its broadband bundles.
The TiVo unit, which offers 1TB of programme storage space - enough for up to 500 hours of content - will enable consumers to access thousands of hours of TV on demand instantly.
A dedicated internal modem – powered by Virgin Media's fibre-optic broadband network - will bring internet services and applications direct to consumers' living rooms, providing them with a high quality viewing experience.
The new HD/3D set top box will launch later this year alongside Virgin Media's new TiVo-powered next-generation connected TV service.
Coupled with Virgin Media's exiting on-demand TV service, it will offer consumers access to over 4,600 hours of TV shows, movies and music videos, including hundreds of hours of HD and 3D entertainment.
Cindy Rose, Executive Director of Digital Entertainment at Virgin Media, said the next-generation connected TV service - powered by TiVo - and combined with its "superior" broadband "will blow other 'connected TV' products out of the water".
She added: "We're really proud of our new next-generation TV service which will appeal to anyone and everyone looking for the best of live broadcast TV, catch up, on demand and internet apps and services."
