A fibre optic internet connection will go live at Ryedale House, Malton, as part of a project to bring next-generation internet services to businesses in Ryedale.
Companies operating in Malton and also nearby Norton will benefit from the scheme, which is a joint initiative between Ryedale District Council and NYnet.
Businesses wishing to use high-speed broadband will be able to link directly into NYnet's existing high-speed broadband network via a fibre-optic connection.
"I welcome the active role of the district council in bringing genuine broadband to more and more businesses in Malton and Norton, and look forward to other parts of Ryedale being included as soon as possible," said Keith Knaggs, Leader of Ryedale District Council
He said that the "business of tomorrow" is coming to Ryedale today.
Paul Crane, Sales Manager at NYnet, commented that his firm had been working closely with businesses in the Malton area for the last year on developing a solution for accessing better broadband.
He commented that NYnet is excited about the increased opportunities for local businesses as a result of the new connection.
