Be Broadband has pledged to reward subscribers who recommend the internet service provider (ISP) to their friends and acquaintances.

The firm has launched a new competition, which aims to harness the power of social networking to increase broadband deal subscriber numbers.

Participants in the 'Be a hero' Twitter game can win cash and other prizes by tweeting personal recommendations on their personal account.

For every Twitter follower who clicks on the hyperlink to Be's website and signs up for a broadband package, the ISP will pay out £20.

Be Broadband is also running a league table for subscribers who attract the highest number of new customers, with further rewards for the top ten.

"We see loads of recommendations from our members and love you for it. We decided to make something to help spread the word," the ISP stated.

"So - will you be one of our heroes? You could save a mate from villainous broadband if you do."
