BT broadband customers with an iPad are being given additional opportunities to hook up to the internet service provider's Wi-Fi network.
From today (Thursday January 20th), the broadband provider is allowing customers to download a free application from the iTunes App Store, enabling them to log on at more than two million Wi-Fi hotspots around the UK.
Consumers with an iPad can gain easy mobile access to free and unlimited Wi-Fi, with a mapping service pointing them in the direction of the nearest BT hotspot.
Once BT home broadband customers have downloaded the app, they simply need to input their BT email username and password, and open the app when visiting a Wi-Fi hotspot.
John Petter, Managing Director of BT Retail Consumer, noted that millions of BT broadband customers are already taking advantage of the firm's wireless network.
"Our free app for the iPhone and Android devices has proved a huge hit with over 400,000 downloads to date, so launching an app for the iPad was naturally the next step," he stated.
Mr Petter said the app "represents real value" to iPad users at a time when more people are seeking access to the internet on the move.
