Internet service provider (ISP) Broadband Wherever has launched a new satellite broadband service for UK homes and businesses.
The firm is to provide its new Tooway10mb service using Eutelsat's KA-SAT satellite, which entered into orbit in December 2010.
Broadband Wherever is set to launch a range of 6Mb, 8Mb and 10Mb broadband deals in May 2011, reports ISPreview.co.uk.
Shawn Hunt, Director of the ISP, said the launch of the new Tooway10mb service is "great news" for customers who still suffer from poor broadband speeds.
"With speeds of up to 10Mb available, many people will now see satellite as a viable alternative to ADSL," he stated.
"Rural communities and people living and working in not-spot areas will no longer feel they are being left behind in the broadband divide."
Mr Hunt said enquiries for the new service have been "overwhelming", with reservations being made as early as January this year.
