Broadband & Business

The majority of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners believe high-speed broadband is essential for their business, it has been reported.

In a study conducted by Enterprise Nation, 59 per cent of SME respondents said they relied upon a fast internet connection.

Respondents said access to the web and downloading rich media has become vitally important to their operations, reports ISPreview.co.uk.

Broadband has a crucial role to play in sourcing information, working with partners and, critically, selling to customers, the report said.

As well as broadband, UK SMEs said that social media – such as networking websites Twitter and Facebook – will be critical to business success over the next 12 months (35 per cent).

Cloud computing was also cited as being extremely important, with 27 per cent of SMEs surveyed believing this will be most important in the coming year.
