BE Broadband has announced that it will be trialling its fibre offering in Barking.

Local residents were sent a newsletter detailing plans for the trials, which will involve BE installing some of its own equipment in BT's exchanges.

"Although more complex than if we were to buy a fibre service exclusively from another provider, we feel it could work better in the long run," the letter stated.

It added that the trial will take place in a single exchange to start with and local residents will be contacted to be asked if they wish to take part. It is hoped that the trail will start with an initial ten households.

In a question and answer session on its website, BE stated that the trial is expected to last around six months, but may take longer depending on progress.

The broadband provider added that it is hoped anyone taking part in the trail will share their feedback, be it good or bad, using BE's blogs and forums.
