Virgin Media Business has launched a range of simpler network capacity packages for telecoms services, geared towards UK businesses.

According to Reuters, the broadband provider is aiming to appeal to cash-conscious companies as it bids to catch up with BT and Cable & Wireless in the business market.

The new packages offer unlimited bandwidth for flat prices, which means firms will no longer have to upgrade as their network needs intensify.

Virgin Media Business research found that customers are having to gauge how much bandwidth they need over an extended period - and this approach can cause complications in the future.

Going over that limit, due to staff working from different locations and utilising data-hungry mobile devices, has resulted in lengthy negotiations and costly upgrades, Reuters said.

Virgin Media Business's Managing Director Mark Heraghty told the news agency that the unlimited bandwidth packages will "take the guesswork out of things".

"People are always trying to plan capacity and they're trying to optimise their cost position," he stated.
