Residents in Brigg are to benefit from superfast broadband after the area was connected to BT's Infinity Service.

Fibre optic terminals have been fitted on a number of street corners and a number of residents in the local area will be able to take advantage of faster internet speeds in the coming months, reports This is Scunthorpe.

People can check if their local area is connected by checking the BT Infinity website.

Streets which will be affected from June include Kings Avenue, Hawthorn Avenue, Bridge Street and Forester Street.

BT Infinity allows users to access speeds of up to 40Mb, making it easier for households to download movies and TV shows, play games and surf the web.

According to BT, Infinity speeds are four times higher than the UK average. The service is part of BT's plan to make superfast broadband available to 40 per cent of UK homes by this summer.
