Virgin Media news

Virgin Media is adding to the appeal of its TiVo-based subscription television service, with the addition of new viewer features.

The broadband provider and cable TV specialist is set to roll out a reminder service for its TiVo set-top boxes.

Some viewers have criticised the absence of programme reminders on TiVo - with Sky and Freeview customers able to take advantage of such a service.

Virgin Media has been eager to advertise the advanced nature of its set-top boxes, meaning more features is welcome for the firm.

Virgin Media's Head of Strategic Development for Digital Entertainment Nick Ontiveros said TV subscribers will not have to wait long for the upgrade.

"We will be introducing reminders functionality to TiVo in our next phase code release," he stated. "We will be able to provide more detail soon."

Virgin Media's TiVo user base more than doubled during the final three months of 2011, from 162,000 to 435,000 UK households.
