Many UK consumers lack knowledge of their full range of broadband deal options, it has been suggested.

Piers Daniell, Managing Director of connectivity provider Fluidata, said many people feel like they have a lack of choice when it comes to broadband services - when this is often not the case.

He suggested broadband providers need to find more successful ways of advertising their brands to end users, as reported by ISPreview.co.uk.

"If people are to realise there's more to high-speed broadband than BT – and there certainly is – then we need to see more done to market [its] availability," Mr Daniell said.

Too often, broadband advertising simply focuses on infrastructure investment, he suggested.

"It is great news that the government is investing more in high speed broadband infrastructure, but people need to know it's available, or take-up will be low," he stated.

The UK government wants every community across the country to have access to a minimum of 2Mb broadband by 2015.
