The town of Barton in the Yorkshire and Humber region is now benefiting from superfast broadband thanks to a boost from BT.
The upgrade means that residents and businesses can access speeds of up to 20Mb, more than double the speeds they could previously access.
Councillor Keith Vickers, the Mayor of North Lincolnshire and a member of Barton Town Council, told This is Scunthorpe: "It is great news and anything that gives us faster broadband speed is most welcome.
"Obviously, we would be better off with the super-fast fibre optic broadband but that will come at a later date.
"If it is faster, it is better."
And Barton is not the only area benefiting from a BT upgrade, with Adwick-le-Street, Darton, Kiveton, Gilberdyke, Calder Valley, Boroughbridge and Catterick Camp all getting a boost as BT rolls out its faster broadband.
The broadband provider aims to have 87 per cent of homes and businesses in the region served by an upgraded exchange by spring 2013.
