BT's fibre footprint may extend further than the broadband provider currently claims, according to one news provider.

Earlier this month, the telecoms giant reported that ten million homes and businesses in the UK are able to utilise its super-fast broadband network.

Consumers and business leaders can use the firm's BT Infinity broadband connection checker to see whether they can access super-fast broadband services.

By inputting their phone number and postcode into the firm's website, homeowners can check whether fibre coverage exists in their area.

But according to PC Advisor, the checker is not always entirely accurate.

The news provider claimed that despite some consumers being informed that their connection is not ready for fibre broadband, they can indeed sign up for an Infinity package.

PC Advisor said it may be worth contacting BT's customer services department to check whether fibre broadband is available, rather than simply relying on the website checker.

Some homes and businesses may be able to access super-fast downloads sooner than they realise, it stated.
