Broadband provider Sky witnessed strong growth during the first quarter of 2012, it has been revealed.
The firm acquired 212,000 new Sky Broadband customers and 220,000 new Sky Talk customers between January and March.
On average, a customer switched their broadband or home phone to Sky every 18 seconds, the service provider stated.
In total, 3.9 million UK homes now take their broadband from Sky, with over 3.6 million subscribing to Sky Talk. Just under 3.4 million customers also take their line rental from the firm.
Jeremy Darroch, Chief Executive of the firm, said that when Sky launched its home communications services, one of the aims was to introduce "much-needed choice and competition" to the market.
"I'm delighted that six years on from launch our customers are still responding in record numbers and that our sustained growth means we're now the nation's favourite TV, broadband and home phone provider," he stated.
"And the great news is that millions more customers have the opportunity to get a better experience and save money by switching their broadband and talk to Sky."
