Broadband subscribers can take steps to maximise their Wi-Fi speeds, Virgin Media has claimed.

The broadband provider says that by changing the wireless channel on their Virgin Media Super Hub, consumers can gain access to faster downloads.

In order to guide customers through this process, the broadband provider has launched a new video guide on its website.

Firstly, Virgin Media advises downloading wireless scanning software in order to check which wireless channels are being used by neighbouring homes.

The firm says this helps consumers avoid using a congested channel, which could lead to lower speeds and inferior Wi-Fi performance.

In order to switch channels, consumers simply need to follow a link provided in the online video and then log-in using the details on the back of their router.

Subscribers are then given a range of options including 'Wireless Settings', which allows them to change their channel and improve Wi-Fi speeds.
