Plusnet has launched a new broadband deal enabling home broadband users to download at a rate of up to 76Mb.

The broadband provider has introduced the new Plusnet Extra Fibre - its fastest product yet - for consumers seeking a speed boost.

Extra Fibre replaces the older up to 38Mb package of the same name, following super-fast broadband trials which commenced in January.

Almost 700 customers took part in the trial, providing "valuable feedback" which has helped Plusnet shape its new fibre product.

"One recurring piece of feedback we’ve received since launching our fibre products is the desire for higher upload speeds," Plusnet stated.

"More and more people are uploading photos and videos to the internet and using online back-up and storage solutions like iCloud and Google Drive, which makes upload speed more important than ever."

Plusnet offers up to 76Mb download speeds, up to 19.5Mb uploads, a 250GB usage allowance and a free wireless broadband router.

Customers - who are required to sign up on an 18-month contract - can also save £50 courtesy of a free installation, and take advantage of free security software and customer support.

Plusnet has also announced a free speed upgrade for existing fibre customers - with current customers seeing upload capabilities increase from 1.9Mb to 9.5Mb.

The broadband provider is set to carry out upgrade work on its network over the next few months, delivering faster speeds at no extra charge.
