Fibre broadband is transforming the online experience for households and businesses, according to one service provider.
Kay Stevenson, Communications Manager at KC, said ultra-fast broadband networks "can meet the needs of the most bandwidth-hungry households and businesses for a generation to come".
She explained that 100Mb broadband speeds allow a typical music album to be downloaded in just five seconds and an hour-long television show in 30 seconds.
"A 5GB high-definition film takes about seven minutes, which is more than ten times faster than the UK average download speed," Ms Stevenson claimed.
She noted that KC Lightstream - the firm's fibre broadband service - will be available to 15,000 homes and businesses in Hull and East Yorkshire by the end of 2012.
"We are testing even faster speeds for launch in the future," Ms Stevenson stated.
She said the firm is making a multi-million pound investment in ultra-fast broadband, which will benefit thousands of homes and businesses.
