BT is giving its broadband subscribers the chance to get their hands on a cut-price Windows 8 laptop this month.

Customers are able to purchase a Toshiba Satellite C850-13X notebook for just £309.99, and then upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro for just £14.99.

Ordinarily, upgrades to the recently released operating system start from £49.99.

"With Windows 8 Pro, you get everything in Windows 8, plus enhanced features that help you easily connect to company networks, access files on the go, encrypt your data, and more," BT states.

The broadband provider says the Satellite C850 series offers "great value and great quality for everyday computing".

It features a 39.6 cm (15.6") display and textured matte black finish.

"Extensive connectivity options are incorporated and include SuperSpeed USB 3.0, HDMI and an integrated numeric keypad for added convenience and ease of use," the broadband provider added.

The notebook has a battery life of up to 5.5 hours, 4GB DDR3 memory and 500GB HDD storage space.
