Eutelsat has launched a new range of satellite broadband deals which could help rural homes and businesses access faster speeds.
The firm has simplified its Tooway broadband service and reduced its prices, announcing new S, M, L and XL packages which will be available from February 1st.
Eutelsat's entry-level Tooway S deal will offer up to 2Mb downloads and 1Mb uploads with a 2GB usage allowance for £19.99 per month.
Tooway M will offer up to 20Mb download speeds, 6Mb uploads and a 10GB usage allowance for £29.99.
The firm's Tooway L deal sees this usage allowance doubled to 20GB for £39.99 per month, while the XL package offers 30GB for £49.99.
Service users will also require a satellite dish and compatible modem to receive the broadband service. These can be rented as part of the package for an additional £6 a month.
Jean-François Fenech, General Manager of Eutelsat's Broadband Business Unit, commented: “These new Tooway packages are another huge step forward in making universal high speed broadband an immediate reality for Europe.
"The fastest speeds and most generous data packages at the best competitive rates can be delivered in a matter of days, regardless of location."
He added that the outlook for consumers in Europe’s most digitally deprived areas has "just got much brighter".
Earlier this month, Eutelsat announced the full entry into commercial service of the new Eutelsat 70B satellite at 70.5° East.
The firm said the "seamless transfer" of all traffic from the Eutelsat 70A satellite was carried out in close collaboration with clients and providers of uplink services.
It added that the new satellite has been "custom-designed to optimise resources" at 70.5° East - a location occupied by a Eutelsat satellite since 2002.
