KC has announced plans to extend the coverage of its super-fast fibre broadband network in the Humber region.

The broadband provider - the telecoms incumbent in East Yorkshire - currently offers its Lightstream broadband deals to approximately 15,000 homes in the Hull area.

Some 3,500 have already signed up for super-fast broadband with the firm.

Another 15,000 homes are set to be passed by KC's fibre network this year, starting with 2,000 premises in Swanland, Victoria Dock and the Hessle Road area of Hull during the spring.

KC has announced the next 53 streets to be added to its growing super-fast fibre network.

By 2015, the broadband provider aims to have passed 45,000 homes with its broadband network, which offers speeds in excess of 300Mb using fibre-to-the-premises technology.

Standard fibre-to-the-cabinet connections offer broadband speeds of up to 80Mb.
