Virgin Media has been unveiled as an official partner of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The TV, home phone and broadband provider will be the Presenting Partner of Athletics for the event, which takes place in Glasgow from July 23rd to August 3rd next year.
Some 6,500 athletes and officials from across the Commonwealth are set to travel to Scotland, along with more than a million spectators.
Jeff Dodds, Chief Marketing Officer at Virgin Media, said Glasgow 2014 will bring together great athletes and sports fans for one of the biggest sporting events ever to take place in Scotland.
“With our home nation heroes and international superstars, we're getting behind Glasgow and can’t wait to build on an amazing track record of success," he stated.
Lord Smith of Kelvin, Chairman of Glasgow 2014, said the organisers were "delighted" to welcome Virgin Media into the sponsor family.
"We are hugely excited to be working with such a fantastic partner," he stated.
"Virgin Media is a highly regarded company and has such a strong presence here in Scotland."
Shona Robison, the Commonwealth Games Minister, said the involvement of one of the UK's biggest communications and entertainment companies was a major plus for the Games.
"Virgin Media’s sponsorship of Glasgow 2014 is welcome and will help make next year’s Games world class," she added.
