Steven Gerrard's testimonial will be the first live football match on the new BT Sport platform, it has been revealed.
BT Sport will screen the game - between Liverpool and Greek champions Olympiacos - on August 3rd at 12.45pm, two days after the service launches.
Liverpool captain Gerrard has made 630 appearances for the Anfield club since making his debut in 1998, scoring 159 goals from midfield.
BT Sport will have pre and post-match interviews with the England stalwart, widely regarded as a modern Liverpool great.
Gerrard said he was "delighted" that his testimonial game is being shown live on BT Sport, helping to raise more money for his foundation, which supports local children's charities.
"It should be a great match and will be a competitive one in preparation for the coming season," he stated.
Simon Green, Head of BT Sport, said: "We are thrilled to be kicking off our live football coverage on BT Sport with this testimonial for the England captain, who is one of the greatest current players in the game.
"BT Sport is also delighted that we are able to support Steven in his charitable aims and make a contribution to his foundation, which does valuable work in the community."
Mr Green said the match should act as "a perfect curtain raiser" for the coming season and a first opportunity for football fans to experience what BT Sport will have to offer over the coming years.
BT Sport has secured the rights to 38 live football matches, including 18 top picks from the Barclays Premier League for the next three seasons.
The channels will also show live FA Cup, Europa League and Scottish Premier League matches, top-tier action from Germany, Italy, France, Brazil, Australia and the USA, and women's football.
