Out-of-work UK claimants are being given the opportunity to buy a cheap PC alongside a home broadband connection.

The new Get Online @ Home scheme offers reconditioned computers at hugely discounted rates for qualifying individuals.

Up until June 30th, desktop PCs are available for just £24, with laptops priced at £74.

The offer applies to those receiving housing benefit, income support, jobseeker’s allowance, pension credit, disability living allowance, attendance allowance, carer's allowance, incapacity benefit, or the disability element of Working Tax Credit.

In order to qualify for the deal, claimants also have to register for an associated home broadband deal delivered by a Get Online @ Home partner.

Chris Williams, from Get Online @ Home, said the body is "delighted" to be able to make this "extraordinary deal" available, "to offer real help to people that need it".

"Never before has anything like it been made possible, and we know it will benefit all those who have previously not been able to get online," he stated.
