Virgin Media claims its next-generation Super Hub delivers "unrivalled connectivity" to customers’ homes.
The wireless router, which is powered by the latest dual band technology, features an extra antenna on the 5GHz channel designed to improve range as well as speed.
The firm said this makes it ideal for homes where three or more gadgets are connected to the internet at the same time.
"The equipment offers best in class 2.4GHz performance and was found to typically be six to nine per cent better than the competition during testing," Virgin Media noted.
All Virgin Media fibre customers signing up for an up to 60Mb or 100Mb broadband deal will now receive the new Super Hub, while 30Mb customers will continue to use its predecessor.
Existing customers on or upgrading to 60Mb or 100Mb broadband speeds can request a new Super Hub, however an installation fee of £49.95 will apply.
Joe Lathan, Director of Broadband at Virgin Media, said that as the number of gadgets connecting to the internet grows, people will need super-fast broadband more so everyone in the home can get online at the same time.
"Our Super Hubs are designed to help customers get the most from their fibre connections," he stated.
"We’ve designed our new Super Hub to deliver the best in-home Wi-Fi experience for customers on our fastest speeds - those who regularly connect lots of devices to the internet at the same time."
