Sky has won the prestigious Best Consumer Fixed Broadband gong at the Internet Service Providers' Association Awards 2013.

The service provider - which recently announced the acquisition of O2 and Be Broadband's home broadband businesses - has continued to attract new subscribers this year.

Sky added another 152,000 subscribers between January and March 2013, taking the total to 4,387,000.

The firm said it had continued to expand its network reach, with a presence in 2,202 local telephone exchanges at the end of the first quarter.

"We have also continued to improve the economics of broadband, moving more customers over to our fully unbundled product," Sky noted.

Sky picked up its Best Consumer Fixed Broadband award at a ceremony staged at the Park Lane Sheraton Hotel in London.

Other winners at the event included Hyperoptic (Best Super-fast Broadband), Plusnet (Best Consumer Customer Service ISP) and Dr Julian Huppert MP, who picked up this year's Internet Hero award.
