TalkTalk news

TalkTalk has announced plans to launch a new, entry-level TV deal later in 2013.

The TV, home phone and broadband provider says a "value for money" Essentials TV product will become available to UK households in the autumn.

According to TalkTalk, customers will receive a smaller, lower-cost YouView box than those who sign up for television services via the firm's Plus TV package.

Reports suggest users may not be able to record content, but they will have access to on-demand and catch-up services.

Since TalkTalk TV launched 11 months ago, customers have been required to take out a Plus TV subscription in order to take advantage of the YouView-based services.

As well as offering a free YouView box - which ordinarily retails at £299 - the package includes unlimited high-speed broadband and inclusive off-peak calls.

Households signing up for TalkTalk Essentials at present receive unlimited high-speed broadband and off-peak calls, but with no TV set-top box.
