Customers who order EE’s superfast home fibre broadband packages will also receive a Bright Box 2 wireless router.

Those ordering the company's 76Mbps capable fixed line service, which is currently being offered at half price, receive what is being touted as the most advanced bundled router available in the UK.

The router is designed to offer stronger Wi-Fi signal and less drop-off in speed when a customer moves around, as well as support for plug-and-play setup.

According to EE, the router has an RRP of £175 but will be available for free to all new and upgrading EE Fibre customers and include technology such as a VDSL2 modem, which usually comes at premium, and support for new 802.11ac Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz).

Olaf Swantee, chief executive of EE, commented: "Last year we launched the first superfast 4G and Fibre broadband network in the UK. Now we’re staying one step ahead with the launch of double speed 4G and a range of new innovative plans and services – designed to transform the way our customers connect and share content."

The router is available to new and existing customers taking the Fibre Broadband 76mbps – Unlimited Usage deal, which is £12.50 for the first 3 months and £25 thereafter, and includes weekend calls to UK landlines, half price installation at £25, and an online exclusive £25 M&S Voucher.

Alternatively, the Anytime+ package is £12.50 for the first 3 months and £25 thereafter, and includes weekend calls to UK landlines, half price installation at £25, and an online exclusive £25 M&S Voucher.

With both deals, customers need to take out an 18-month contract and pay phone line rental from £14.75 per month or £11 a month if they pay 12 months upfront

The package includes 12 months' free McAfee internet security, access to the online EE Film streaming service, 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Wednesday, and a £5 monthly discount for existing Orange, T-Mobile and EE mobile customers.
