The countdown is on to the first ever Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon, to be staged in York this coming Sunday (October 20th).
Final preparations are underway for the event - sponsored by the Yorkshire-based broadband provider - which will see 6,500 runners take to the streets of one of Britain's most historic and iconic cities.
The race - which starts at 9:30am at the University of York - will take in some of the centre's famous landmarks such as York Minster before heading out into the surrounding countryside.
The first runners are expected to cross the finishing line at the university around 11:40am, with the women's winner likely to arrive around noon.
Jamie Ford, Chief Executive at Plusnet, said he was "delighted" at his firm's role as headline sponsor for the new marathon.
"Plusnet is very proud of its Yorkshire roots and this is a great opportunity to be involved in a mass participation event," he stated.
Mr Ford said the race would showcase some of Yorkshire's "finest scenery and sporting achievements" to the rest of the UK and beyond.
