TalkTalk’s new Essentials TV package offers savings of up to £249 compared with rivals’ TV, broadband and calls bundles, the budget broadband provider claims.
In head-to-head comparisons in the marketing drive for Essentials TV, TalkTalk claims that customers can expect to save up to £249 over 18 months compared with the equivalent, entry-level Sky bundle.
TalkTalk also calculates Virgin Media subscribers could save £227, while BT TV customers who switch to Essentials TV could reduce their outlay by £190.
Launched last week, Essentials TV includes a free YouView set top box, offering access to more than 70 FreeView channels, plus on-demand streaming, seven-day catch-up and the option to pause and rewind live TV.
There’s also the option to add premium channels, such as BT Sport and Sky’s sports and movies output, for an additional monthly charge.
Unlimited broadband at speeds of up to 16Mbps, free weekend and evening calls, a free router and free install complete the Essentials TV package, which is priced £7.50 per month
A spokesperson for TalkTalk said: “£7.50 per month for TV, Totally Unlimited Broadband and evening and weekend calls is Britain’s best priced TV, broadband and calls package.
“That’s about £190 cheaper then the equivalent BT YouView package. To put that into perspective, that equates to one new release movie from the TalkTalk Box Office every week for the entire year or 6 months of Sky Sports through the TalkTalk player.”
