Sky viewers will be spoilt for choice in December as the broadcaster launches seven new TV box sets on its On Demand service.

Consumers who connect their Sky+HD set-top box to their broadband router can enjoy some of the most popular series of recent years at their convenience.

Among the new box sets landing on Sky On Demand in December is the 'The Sopranos' - with viewers able to enjoy all six seasons of the HBO hit.

The award-winning series - which ran between 1999 and 2007 - revolved around the New Jersey-based mobster Tony Soprano, played by the late James Gandolfini.

Sky viewers will also be able to enjoy the complete 'Desperate Housewives' box set, as all eight series will become available next month.

The ABC smash-hit - which reached its dramatic conclusion in 2012 - followed the lives of the residents on the fictional Wisteria Lane.

If reality TV is your thing, then 'Boston's Finest' might be right up your street.

Series one and two of the show - which chronicles the daily operations of the Boston Police Department - will be available on-demand from December.

As will series one and two of 'Scandal', the American political thriller set in Washington D.C.

The show focuses on Olivia Pope's crisis management firm, Pope & Associates, its employees, and also staff at the White House.

Meanwhile, series four of the UK's own politics-themed favourite 'The Thick Of It' is also set to launch.

In the latest instalment of Armando Iannucci's popular satire, the UK is being led by a coalition government, with Malcolm Tucker's party ousted from power.

However, the foul-mouthed Opposition spin doctor is hell-bent on a speedy return to Downing Street.

Also available from next month are the first three series of popular Sky 1 black comedy 'Mad Dogs', which stars Philip Glenister, John Simm, Marc Warren and Max Beesley.

And last but not least, Sky On Demand viewers can enjoy the first 36 episodes of New Zealand fantasy comedy/drama 'The Almighty Johnsons' at their own convenience.
