Christian O’Connell is to join BT Sport’s Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) presenting team, it has been announced.

The stand-up comedian and Absolute Radio DJ, who also presents BBC Radio 5 Live’s 'Fighting Talk', will work with Gareth A Davies and Caroline Pearce on BT Sport's UFC coverage.

He will present the Tuesday night magazine show 'UFC: Beyond The Octagon,' broadcast at 9pm on BT Sport 1.

BT Sport has exclusive UK rights to UFC, one of the world's fastest growing sports.

The broadcaster is to air more than 30 live events this year, including the UFC's numbered pay-per-view contests.

New recruit O’Connell has described himself as "a massive UFC fan".

"Moving from my couch, where I currently mumble to myself during fights, to a studio makes perfect sense," he stated.

"UFC, like BT Sport, is growing bigger every day and it's an exciting time to be part of that."

Grant Best, Senior Executive Channel Producer at BT Sport, said the broadcaster is "delighted" to have O’Connell join the UFC team.

"UFC is proving to be extremely popular with BT Sport viewers and fans can expect even more debate and discussion with Christian joining the team," he stated.
