The current top five in the Aviva Premiership are all in action on BT Sport this weekend, with union fans having massive games to look forward to.

Second-place Northampton Saints host fourth-place Harlequins, third-place Bath take on fifth-place Leicester Tigers and leaders Saracens travel to Gloucester in the first round of matches in 2014.

There's plenty to play for at the mid-way point in the season, with a number of sides lurking with intent outside the play-off places.

Saracens currently lead the table with 46 points, having won ten and lost one of their first 11 games. Northampton are three points back on 43, ready to pounce should Sarries slip up at any point.

Just four points separate the next three sides, with Bath (34) two points ahead of Harlequins (32), who lead Leicester (30) by the same margin.

Exeter Chiefs and London Wasps lie in sixth and seventh in the table with 27 points apiece from their first 11 fixtures.

Saracens will hope to consolidate their position at the top of the table against ninth-place Gloucester, having showed no weakness in a 26-8 win against Worcester last week.

However, Gloucester had a morale-boosting 22-19 win at London Irish, and will aim to build on this as underdogs in front of the television cameras.

Gloucester v Saracens kicks off at 3:15pm on Saturday January 4th, live on BT Sport 1.

Northampton - who face Harlequins at 7:45pm on Friday January 3rd - also earned a try bonus in an important 43-25 win against Bath at Franklin's Gardens last time out.

However Jim Mallinder's side will be pushed hard by Quins, who beat Exeter 22-6 in front of a bumper 74,827 crowd at Twickenham last Saturday.

Leicester Tigers - who host Bath at Welford Road at 2pm on Sunday January 5th - were also in winning form last week, seeing off Sale Sharks 30-23.

Bath will hope to rediscover the form which saw them win five consecutive league matches prior to their trip to Northampton last weekend.
