Will Poulter has been announced as the winner of the EE Rising Star Award in 2014.
The 21-year-old Londoner, who has appeared in films such as 'Son of Rambow', 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader', 'Wild Bill' and 'We're the Millers', beat off competition from five other actors to triumph in the BAFTA category.
Dane DeHaan, George MacKay, Lupita Nyong’o and Léa Seydoux had also been shortlisted for the award - the only BAFTA voted for by members of the UK public.
Spencer McHugh, Director of Brand at EE, said the broadband provider was "absolutely delighted" to see the British public choose Will Poulter as its winner.
"With the award now in its ninth year, we have seen a record response from the voting public, which is testament to the immense talent recognised in the EE Rising Star category this year," he stated.
"Congratulations to Will, a much-deserved winner.”
The five nominees for the EE Rising Star Award were selected from hundreds suggested by a jury featuring leading figures from across the film industry.
Pippa Harris, Deputy Chairman of BAFTA’s Film Committee and producing partner of Sam Mendes, actress Gemma Arterton, film critic Mark Kermode, director Kirk Jones and producer Pete Czernin were among those on the panel.
